In time, we all go through our lives and ask questions about feeling happy. In the pursuit of happiness, in the western world, is this considered self -centered to want to feel happy? A number of researchers and positive mental health workers have argued this point over a decade.
Is It Authentic?
Authentic happiness is not gauged on the amount of money, career you have , or the type of car you drive. Happiness is within you and what makes you feel happy is different for everyone. Learn to give to others, say thank you, and do things that bring you happiness.
A huge part of being of having sustained happiness is the ability to see yourself fully! Make mistakes and learn from them. Don't judge yourself so hard and the people around you.
Using positive thoughts and being less sensitive to social comparison was studied by (Lyubomirsy & Ross) and even when the feedback is unfavorable to ;earn from it.
In the Generation today called " Generation Me" states that Americans are more confident, assertive than ever. In this study was included teenagers compared to adults and different cohorts. The data found that 18-29-year-olds have fairly stable happiness. The group that declined was the group of people that turned 30. Although this is just a sample of a study what makes this age group and what do you think made them experience happiness? Is the way we look at ourselves at a certain age?
Tips to Increase Feeling Happy
If you are willing to look at yourself and ask honest questions, you be able to get the results that you are looking for .
- In your life, do you take time for yourself and spend time doing hobbies?
- Do you make goals that are achievable that you can start small and increase as they are achieved?
- Do you use self-talk and use affirmations such as" I can do anything I put my mind to." I am worthy of success.

In the process of finding happiness that is static or fixed you can do practical things that you enjoy, hobbies, spend time with your children, read a book, or take a walk.
Seven Tips In Finding Happiness
- Take care of yourself by eating well.
- Get enough Sleep.
- Take Time to Play and have hobbies besides working.
- Take a vacation or a day trip to just get away and experience nature.
- Visit a friend and just be in the company of others that make you feel good.
- Be Grateful for what you do have, and do not compare yourself to others'
- Set goals for yourself that are realistic and work towards them daily.
Being Happy Is A Choice
In the last part of this article, I wanted to include that if you want to be happy whether you live in a one bedroom apartment or a mansion on the water , Happiness is a state of mind and you can find skills that can make you happy. Remember You are more resilient than you think.
There are many great philosophers who studied, analyzed and researched happiness. You can choose to be unhappy that you don't have the job or make enough mneys compared to someone else. Or you can choose to be happy that you have an opportunity and you are alive and breathing. It's up to you to make your happiness.
